Welcome to noble
park chess club
The club of chess players, by chess players, for
chess players.
Noble Park Chess Club meets every Saturday at the Paddy O'Donoghue Centre at 3 p.m. (or 2 p.m. for our junior coaching). We are open to both members and non-members.
As our motto says - we are "a club of chess players, by chess players, for chess players”. We are a friendly and welcoming club which caters for every level - so whether you are a beginner or a grandmaster, young or old, casual or serious, you will be able to enjoy chess at our club.
We have three different club programs running every Saturday most weeks of the year (please see our calendar for details):
• At 2 p.m., we run our junior coaching program. The classes are aimed at beginner to intermediate junior players. These run for about 1 hr each week.
• At 3 p.m., we run a weekly novice tournament. This event is aimed at providing beginner / intermediate players with a gentle start in playing competitive chess. Both adults and juniors are welcome to join this tournament.
• Also at 3 p.m., we run our weekly club tournaments. These are internationally FIDE-rated and nationally ACF-rated events and include some of the top players in Victoria. The flagship event is our prestigious club championship at the beginning of the year which is regarded as one of the strongest club events in Victoria.
For those who cannot commit to a weekly tournament, our
other club events include lightning and allegro
tournaments, and the club’s two open days.
